I never can tell what comes first the song or the dream. The song becomes the dream and the dream emerges from the song eventually, brand new fresh from the shower like a revelation and only later in some basement repose would it seem like a memory that I'd just plucked from a magic tree and I'd reach for the notebook and pen and it would appear as ink on the page whether the dream came first or the song I never can tell.
