Rock and roll songs are easy to write. Noise is the key element, the essential thing. If you're not making noise, pushing the sounds of your instrument past what's its done before in other songs that you've written or heard then you're not practicing rock and roll. You're repeating some garbage that we already have and no longer need. So bring that noise with you when you're writing your songs, push past the town limits, listen for the sounds that come to you by accident. Be open to exploring the unknown outputs that your instrument provides and if necessary modify the frequency. Bend it, distort it, blow life back into it.
