Jordyn had a theory that he called boots on the ground. Maybe it was more a philosophy than a theory. Maybe it was just a collection of words spilled out between us that took on the airy shape of life. Maybe it was more of a melody than anything else, a rhythmic recurrence that brought him back and pushed him forward at the same time. Boots on the ground meant that to be a good musician and to create meaningful music, writing, or art you had to feel the streets of the neighbourhood where you lived and you had to walk those streets for countless miles. Day after day and night. Otherwise your art could only ever be an approximation or a guess. A vague gesture at the world. You had to know all of it coming right up thru your body from the street. | image @cranbury
