I started reading David Sedaris because of the door girl at the Sugar Refinery the night that Weaponized State opened for The Insouciant Glances. The door girl made a brief flicker of eye contact with me as she broke my ten and stamped the inside of my left wrist with a faint smear of ink that would take a week to disappear. She went back to reading Sedaris’ Naked. She was about half way through. I took the change that she had given me and dropped it in the tin marked tips. She didn’t look up. Jo was on stage trying to fix one of her synths. The rest of the band were lolling with the insouciants on a couple of derelict couches near the stage. I went to the bar and ordered an oatmeal stout. | image @brockdavis
